friday we took a drive to enjoy the last of the fall color.
phantom canyon road follows the route of an old railroad that originally carried gold out of the cripple creek area.the road winds through the canyon to high plains at over 9,000 feet elevation.

there were beautiful trees



this lovely bridge, built in 1897 to replace the previous wooden bridge destroyed in a fire
harvey played hide and seek with some livestock


we did some scrambling around the rocks

and a short tour around the town of victor

interactive exhibit of old mining equipment. this tip cart was pete's favorite thing
a stop for a short walk on a trail, and then a lovely drive back home
